How To Rave On A Budget & Save Your Money
I know you want to rave on a budget and attend as many raves as possible right? I can see your point, therefore I’ve put together a few easy-to-follow tips. The following tips and tricks are to help you save money for raves and festivals.
First up determine how much you can afford to spend on tickets, transportation, accommodation, and other expenses. Stick to your budget to avoid overspending. The question is how to accomplish that.
Buy Tickets Early
Early bird tickets are often cheaper than buying them closer to the event date. Purchase your tickets as soon as they become available to secure the best price.
One thing I am fond of is using online rave communities for cheap tickets from members who can’t go or a friend has dropped out for whatever reason.
Major ticket websites such as Skiddle are where tickets can be legally and easily transferred to you with one click to your inbox from a friend. Be careful buying tickets outside events due to counterfeits and hiked prices.
Do you have friends in the DJ circuit or perhaps event promotion? Cool! ask for a price on a few tickets for a discount to enhance the overall initiative to rave on a budget. This will free up money for your group for other needs.
If you know such friends in the industry at the least the booking fee won’t be added and if you are lucky you might even get a VIP ticket at a reduced cost for the event
Public Transportation
The choice is yours, however, sometimes public transport can be cheaper and less stressful. I know this because It’s hard for me to leave my car anywhere without worrying but find it easier. I’m sure you agree this is the last thing you want unless there is 100% security onsite.
Plan your route and times of the event and work out trains, buses or flights. Sometimes the time of day depends on travel costs. My suggestion is to choose events that have a great travel network. In the section below I’ve added some price comparison information.
Public Transport – Price Comparison Websites
Utilize fare comparison websites and apps to compare prices across different airlines, train companies, or bus services. For example, websites like Skyscanner, Kayak, and Google Flights can help you find the cheapest flight options available.
Take a look at Omio a flight, train and bus comparison website that sends deals directly to your inbox in comparison with your desired itinerary. You can use their service both nationally and internationally.
I’ve used Price Alert Websites for flights to maintain and help me rave on a budget many times in the past.
When a good price reduction becomes available you get a text or email to offer you an improved price. The great thing about this is the app or website already knows your required times and dates or travel from when you originally searched.
Carpooling Transport Opportunites
Carpooling is the main method to travel and rave on a budget for an easy journey to the destination. We took turns driving and calculated how many cars we needed, who was willing to drive and the cheapest car on fuel.
Spread the cost around for fuel and offer an incentive to the driver. For example not having to pay his/her share in fuel. If you drive and want to rave on a budget do so under the understanding you will get a free ticket paid for by your accompanied friends.
Carpooling or renting a van or minibus can be more cost-effective than everyone booking individual tickets. We had a van once with 22 of us packed in the back to reduce the cost and save on our rave budget. This, however, is not recommended for safety reasons.
Avoid Peak Travel Times
Try to avoid travelling during peak seasons or holidays when prices are typically higher. If possible, schedule your trip during off-peak times to take advantage of lower prices and less crowded travel conditions.
I know this is difficult when it comes to Ibiza and other party destinations. However, using a price comparison website as mentioned above should cure that.
I’ve always arrived at raves early to avoid peak times to meet new friends, take a look around the local town or city and work out the easiest method to catch buses or trains back to my hometown. I’ve always been aware of hiked food and drink prices at raves, therefore eat locally before the night begins.
Bundle Your Travel and Accommodation
Some travel websites offer discounts when you book your travel tickets and accommodation together as a package. Explore these options to see if bundling can save you money on both aspects of your trip.
For me, guesthouses were a huge way to rave on a budget abroad where I frequented the Fullmoon Party many times after living in Thailand for five years. It’s so much easier to budget abroad than the UK, However, it’s possible almost anywhere once you get used to it.
Travelling abroad is far easier getting travel and accommodation together for a low price. If you do want to frequent raves on a budget overseas, search for the local backpacker’s district.
This is where reduced prices are always available. I get reduced travel, accommodation and event tickets for one cost at the backpacker’s mecca. Once you’ve mastered this you’ll save heaps of money
Student Travel Cards
Are you a student? Use your student card to get a reduction on travel allowing discounts to reduce the cost of raving. You can buy yearly travel cards on trains, buses and planes all over the world.
The Railcard is available to residents of Great Britain aged between 16 and 25 years of age and mature students in full-time study. If you are from another country most travel requirements can be also reduced as a student.
If you’re aged 16 – 26 or are a full-time student then a Young Persons National Express Coachcard gives you 1/3 off all their Standard and Fully Flexible fares, £15 day return anywhere in the UK.
Remember being a raver means PLUR. Peace, Love, Unity & Respect and we should always be aware of that when we travel to and from an event. That’s within our nature to travel nice and tell our stories to others on our route and back.
Keep an Eye Out for Sales and Promotions
Stay updated on sales, promotions, and special deals offered by airlines, train companies, or bus services. Follow their social media accounts, sign up for newsletters, and regularly check their websites for any discounts or offers.
Avoid Impulse Buys
Rave events often have merchandise stalls selling clothing, accessories, and other items. While it can be tempting to splurge, try to resist impulse buys and only purchase items you truly need or love.
Think about your needs for clothing, whereas you can search for rave gear on the internet on websites such as Amazon or eBay. There are millions of cheap opportunities to sort through online if you have time to place some searches on your favoured style.
Bring Cash
Some vendors may charge extra fees for card transactions or have minimum purchase requirements. Bringing cash can help you avoid these additional costs and help you continue to rave on a budget that suits you. I’m all for cash, however, I like to keep everything on my mobile phone in one place.
Participate in Contests and Giveaways
Many rave events host contests and giveaways on social media or their websites. Participating in these contests can give you a chance to win free tickets or merchandise.
The final Word
By following these tips, you can enjoy the rave experience without breaking the bank. Remember to prioritize your spending and focus on the aspects of the event that matter most to you.
The more friends you make over time will help you reduce costs in all aspects of raving on a budget. The more rave friends the more you have to bargain with on travel and accommodation and even tickets if purchased directly.
I hope this blog post has assisted you towards an easier route to saving a little cash for raving be it locally or abroad. There are scores of price reduction techniques available allowing you to attend more events at a reduced cost and these are some of the best.
